Wimbledon starts today. Djokovic going for a record tying 8th title

coolstanleycoolstanley Posts: 2,971 ✭✭✭✭✭

Novak Djokovic plays on center court this morning and tries for a 8th overall Wimbledon title and 5 in a row. Roger Federer currently holds the record on the men's side with 8 titles. Although Djokovic is the heavy favorite to win the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz is the #1 seed. Djokovic, who already holds the record for the most Grand Slam titles, is trying to extend that to 24 Slams with another win here at the all England club. Once again ESPN is covering the tournament throughout the two week event, and NBC covering the Men's and Woman's finals.

He has a great chance. He is finally allowed now to play the U.S. summer tournaments. I guess they finally figured out he was healthy enough to fly over lol.

It would be awesome to see him accomplish this and it will be only the 2nd time in the open era after Rod Laver in 1969. The US Open might be tough; it is a tournament that he has "only" won 3 times, and there seem to be more hard court specialists on the tour (Alcaraz, Medvedev, etc.)
