Question for fellow ebayers re: presales

So I'm seeing coins listed for 'presale' by big and small sellers alike. These coins aren't releasing until fall and some aren't even set dates yet. AFAIK the presale limit is 30 days by adding handling time to a listing. It also seems that they only cover purchases for 30 days. Additionally if tracking is not uploaded by a certain time your account gets dinged for not uploading tracking... How do they avoid losing top seller status if the presale is greater than 30 days and they can't ship for say another 30 days?

So how are these big guys putting coins up for sale with August and later dates? Also, the buyer loses all protection from ebay as soon as their order is 30 days old, do they not? Or is it just another case of more money = less rules for the big guys?

Thanks in advance!

I always ignore those with dates that are far out. The eBay policy is no more than thirty days, last time I checked, so anything beyond that is too long for me. This is just one more thing to check on in advance. I have been very fortunate to have had only one issue on eBay in four years, and that was an $8 or so item, and eBay refunded the money.

@erscolo I'm asking from a selling standpoint more than a buyers standpoint.

Never cared for the pre-sales stuff. Especially premium priced widgets. Ah, but to each their own. The flip side is paying ahead to be one of the millionth people who got it first, just in case it goes up higher. Strange, to me. We all have fun with coins, different ways.

Yes, must be shipped to ebay buyer within 30 days.

    PreSale Policy

Ebay presales are designed so that the buyer can get out of a "too much money" purchase. Anyone that presales on ebay is not thinking strait. He is simply tying up his merchandise with someone who is likely to purchase it cheaper elsewhere later and then file a claim for what he paid too much for. In the end the seller will not be able to resell his presell until after it has been resolved with the first purchaser and then bottomed in price. Buyers lock in on presales and then wait for price to go up or down. Either way they get the coin cheaper or they back out/return it.

As a seller, avoid ebay presales. They are not worth the negative feedback they generate or the delay in making an actual sale.
