Do you think this 1840 Small/Large LC will straight grade?

These usually look like crap. This one looks pretty good but for the hit at star 6. The reverse looks choice to me. I grade it F15. Do you think the obverse hit will keep this coin from straight grading? Thanks for your opinions.

I feel your pain! It's a tough issue to find nice... I agree with F12/F15 for details but I think the gouge at star 6 keeps it from a straight grade... :-/

It's always possible. At 12 oclock there is some type of planchet or other defect which looks like more of an issue to me.

My guess is that the obverse hit wouldn't preclude a straight grade. That said, a details-grade wouldn't be a shock.

I think it’s got a good shot at a straight grade.
