Whattaya think of this beauty?
I didn't realize how scuffy the slab was until I got home and started trying to take a decent shot of this sucker.
I know there is a polish you can buy for plastic... Is it called Plast-X or something like that?
I need to go get some.

I’ve heard, but never personally tried, that the NGC slabs are very difficult to polish scratches out of and that PCGS are much easier.
I don’t polish scratches out of slabs, instead if I want to take a picture through a scratched slab I put a few drops of oil on the slab on top of where the coin is. The oil makes the scratches invisible to the camera. I find it also gets rid of slab glare too. I use optically clear compass oil, but I’ve heard of others using mineral oil or even WD-40.

That's good to know, thanks.

Here’s a before and after shot of a coin through a scratched slab. The bottom picture is with the oil on the slab on top of the coin, top is without the oil

Nice!
I used this. Although it was an ANACS slab, your scratches don't seem as deep as this one was. I don't believe it would make yours any worse. Only elbow grease in a fast circular motion. NO heavy equipment like drills or buffing pads.

Wonderful content in this thread!
I had no idea scuffs and scrapes could be removed from slabs like this.
The added bonus is what Mr Spud posted using oil to facilitate photography!
Nice.

Do you have any?

I would NOT polish an NGC slab unless you really know what you're doing. It will end up worse. ANACS and PCGS use a softer plastic and a little polishing compound does wonders. The NGC plastic is much harder and doesn't simply buff out as easily. You are more likely to add fine scratches than to remove them, in my experience.
FWIW, I have no trouble with PCGS and ANACS slabs but I've never gotten an NGC to look right so I've stopped trying.
I use Meguiar's which works wonderfully removing scratches and scuff marks but have never tried it on an NGC slab.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Glad to see it’s not just me having difficulty removing hairlines from NGC slabs.
I’ll have to try that oil trick.
