1955 S wheat penny

Hi there looking for a honest but kind opinion. I’ve been collecting coins for about 5 years more or less.., but I’m struggling with what coins would be worth grading. I’ve sent coins out for certification some were worth it and sadly some weren’t. So I have this 1955 S wheat penny that appears to me to have an error on the five. My question is with most of you all experience do you think it be worth sending this coin for grading. Thank you kindly..!!

    Welcome to the forum! :)

It appears to be a die chip in the 5 and not an error.
Die chips are fairly common and don't add much of a premium in most cases.
It doesn't look like it would grade high in the 66 to 68 range and would not be worth submitting for grading.

Agree that is a Die Chip which is not considered an error.
It would cost you more to have certified than what the coin is worth.

  • Thank you very much.

  • I have another coin I’d like you all opinion on. Is a1895 Indian Head penny.. it most definitely have errors. On the obverse and reverse. On the letters year the Indian head..!! I did find one like this but it was only the year that was doubled die not the entire coin on both sides. Thanks again

    Your 1895 is a counterfeit. :/

  • How can you tell?

You are showing two pictures of the Obverse but it doesn’t matter as it is a counterfeit anyways.
The date is wrong among other things.
Also that would be Machine Doubling, not a Doubled Die even if it was genuine.

  • Thanks again. I’m Learning as I go I’m starting to tell the difference between a clean and unclean coin polished coins etc.. I’m also learning currency..!!
