2023 Topps Super Box - is this a new packaging style influenced by Fanatics?

Was at Target picking up wife's meds and always swing around cards aisle...saw these and have never seen anything quite like it from Topps before. Has there been? I'm fairly new to all this, so not sure and kind of surprised me. Sort of reminds me of some toy-type packaging from youth so was curious.

Bought all 3 I saw on shelf and gonna open 1. Looks fun if not gimmicky. :)

(Note: Target online still has them for 34.99 whereas DACA/SteelCity etc have them at almost $60 ATM.)

They remind me more of the Pokemon style packaging, where there are packs displayed more artistically and less "here's a stack of packs." The packaging is not very compact, but is laid out to draw attention to the special insert packs that might compel a buyer. I, for one, think they are pretty neat looking. I'm especially excited about the "super" size pack, as I believe that represents the first time since 1985 that Topps has issued cards that size in a pack. I would love to see them issue them in their own box, but for now I'll take this. I'm glad to see Fanatics experimenting with some different approaches to packaging. That is a must if they are going to expand the market.

    I agree, very Pokemonesque

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I saw them too. A couple of format nuances - super sized card, a couple of foil packs. Definitely gimmicky, however, someone will pull something outrageous, if they haven't already.

ok, well the pin is actually a solid piece - was expecting some frail thing but works for a tie clip. :)

Oversized card not in a pack just 1 card (got #1-Juan Soto) with cover that looks like a pack. Assuming silver foil pack is same as they put in the hobby boxes and the 10 packs are regular ones - was looking for 5 cards needed and scored 0/5.

Extra card was #27 Mike Trout with "Collectors Box" tag on back. Will keep rest unopened.
