How many cards in Card Saver I’s can be shipped in the eBay Standard Envelope? Thanks!

Your ebay Standard Envelope is going to be processed through the USPS automated sorting equipment. Despite what people seem to think, writing "Fragile" or "Do Not Bend" or "Hand Sort Only" on the outside of the envelope does not make one bit of difference. Almost no one, other than the clerk on the shipping end, and the carrier upon delivery, will see that, and those 2 people have nothing to do with how the envelope is processed.
That envelope is going to be bent a thousand different ways through the automated equipment as it makes its way to its destination. The thicker and more rigid that you make the envelope, the more likely that it is going to get jammed in the automated equipment. Jams end up like mini car crashes, taking out more than just the one envelope, but the 3-5 envelopes coming in behind it.
If an operator of the machine is continuously having to pull out jams caused by the thick eBay Standard Envelopes, at some point, they begin to try to preemptively cull those envelopes out before proceeding if they are able to spot them. Any culls and pulled jams then get sent to the manual processing unit. Along with all of the ridiculous square shaped semi rigid cardboard holders that flip out of the machine and onto the floor because the center of gravity on those are higher than a regular envelope.
Once those envelopes are in the manual processing unit, they sit there for a period of time because management absolutely HATES to use manpower to hand process mail. So eventually, to clear their unit, they will send those culls back to automation (the supervisor thinks "this look like machinable mail to ME") where they get processed through the automated machines again, likely jamming again, or flipping onto the floor again, or flipping into the bin of mail going to a completely different zip code again... That is why you will see long delays, sometimes with the tracking even showing "delivered" while the recipient still waits days upon days before it actually arrives, if ever. The "delivery scan" is picked up from the camera on the front of the machine, but a jam further down causes it to be pulled out of the mail stream, or the envelope flips into another zip code, or onto the floor; etc.
Anyone that uses the eBay Standard Envelope really needs to watch the plethora of YouTube videos out there on the USPS mail processing procedure.
One card, perhaps 2, in a regular letter envelope shouldn't be a problem. But the thicker and more rigid that you make the envelope, you are just asking for trouble, so proceed at your own risk.
Well said
Well, what a detailed explanation! You must either work or have connections to the USPS 😜 I was thinking of mailing no more than 5 cards in Card Saver I’s which would only weighs 2 ounces. What about those said 5 cards in Card Saver I’s in a small Bubble envelope instead? Do you think that would be alright?
Do you any of you other people have continued success mailing 5 cards in Card Saver I’s in eBay Standard Envelopes?
Thanks everyone!
Card Saver 1s won’t make it. But the insurance works well when the buyer makes a claim against you.
I have went to using a Shipping Shield, up to 8 cards...ebay standard 3oz...anything above that I go first class.

Won’t make it? Not quite sure what you meant! 🤔
What is Shipping Shield?

Bubble mailer is against the rules as that is not a standard envelope... Would cost at least $4 or so as 1st class package...
I send out about 10-20 of these a day.

If I understood you correctly anything 3 ounce and under in a Shipping Shield envelope is considered and eBay Standard Envelope. Is that correct? Thanks!
Where do you buy these?
One option is at the URL on the envelope - bulk packages with advertising and without, even a free sample if you want to try it out.

What’s the advantage of these vs. putting a card in a Card Saver I? Thanks!
I don’t do either, I’ve shipped dozens of eBay standard envelope using penny sleeve, top loader, and a plain white envelope. Haven’t had any issues to date, and with insurance covering my losses if there was an issue, I’m not sure I’d change.

Like I said, I can ship about 8 in these with 2 penny sleeves. These had cost me .08 each.

I just had my 1st one out of about 20 come back looking for more postage. I was using 6x6 paperboard CD mailers with no issues until this one. Upon talking to the lady at the PO she says that they do not like square items, there is a problem with the machinery and it's ability to read where it's going. 6x7 or 5x4 are no issue, just not a square. All this $$ spent on automation and technology and we still must avoid shipping square items. SMH
To what gameusedhoop said above, USPS doesn't like squares. Even greeting cards in square envelopes need extra postage.
It may be hip to be square, but it's cost effective to be rectangular.
I had item sent to me in the standard Ebay envelope from a Ebay seller and I had to pay almost $4 extra to receive the item. I gave the seller heck and he said that I should not have paid the Postman.
You're confusing me a little. You ship 8 cards in 2 penny sleeves?
Not sure if it is deep in the T&C's on ebay or on USPS, but one side has to be longer than the other for standard envelope shipping. As well, there is a rigidness rule and paperboard is def too rigid for the standard. A lot get through, but every now and then you will get one kicked back or with a postage due to the buyer. Used to happen to me as well when I would stick some cardbaord in the envelope and go slightly over the 1/4 inch thickness rule....
Paperboard was approved by the Postmaster here. The only issue was being square. The paperboard is as flexible as the credit card offers are. In fact she told me to cut down the mailer a little bit and put it in a PWE.
my daily process:
For 1-8 cards:
4.75 x 6.5 envelope
1 card: top loader taped to piece of thin cardboard or heavy paper.
2-4 cards: one penny sleeve, shipping shield; taped to the middle of the inside envelope.
5-8 cards: two penny sleeves, shipping shield; taped to the middle of the inside envelope.
9+ cards: first class mail and different packaging.
