I had left my 1571 slot in this set reserved for a Scottish "Sword Dollar" (Ryal) in case one ever crossed my path. It happened today, so I pulled the trigger.

Congrats. Any idea of what the countermark signifies?

The crowned thistle countermark is from the 1578 revaluation from 30 shillings (the XXX on the obverse) to 36 shillings 9 pence.
