Quick question

This is one of the most down-to-earth forums I've seen in a long time and I figured I'd get a straight answer from the people here. I don't want this post to be taken as spam-like, but just as something to help me out. I am working on a website for sports cards. Right now, all the information on it relates to cards from 2001 and on. I'm missing the whole vintage side of the market and I want to close the gap. What type of vintage card information would yall want to see on a sports card site? What would be the most helpful that would keep you as a return visitor? Would a vintage section even be helpful on a website? I don't want to be stingy on anything in this vintage section either. Anything and everything is a possibility.

    qmayer,

I'd suggest that whatever you do, do it well. Start small, and if you can't tackle the vintage at the start -- no big deal. Add to the content and scope as you gain knowledge and capability. If I go to a site, and the content isn't worthwhile then I never return.

    Just my opinion.

IMHO, www.707sportscards.com, has one of the nicest vintage websites I have seen. Everything is easy to find, and everything is listed. Not just the high grade stars, but the mid-to-low grade stars and commons. As a set-buider, I like to see all cards, and not just the showpiece cards.

I believe Jay, "qualitycards", on these forums, and www.qualitycards.com, are one in the same. I could be wrong, but this is also a site I enjoy going to.

Also, as many pictures as possible, can never hurt.

I don't think I was clear enough in my initial question. I'm working on a reference/information site. I'm not trying to sell anything. I was trying to figure out what yall would look for relating to reference material.

Complete accurate checklists, information about packagining and distribution, information about variations and advertising backs, database of prices realized for key cards, information about how/when the set is reprinted, pictures of the cards, etc.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • If Anything and everything is a possibility then i would like to see the GPS coordinates of every NM or better RAW Pre-War card that will be at the upcoming National in Chicago. I would also like to have a listing of where all the future finds are located - names, addresses, and phone numbers. I want to know where I can buy cards the cheapest, and who I can sell them to for the most money. I would like to know how to do this in the easiest way possible, with having to get dressed and leaving my house being the absolute last resort.

In that case, everything Mikeschmidt said in his first post would do it for me.
