Sale sucked but Duvall sure made up for it!
That is what will fire up a team.

    Chris Sale...

over hyped, waaaaaaaaaaay overpaid and grossly underperforming

During yesterday's game he complained about a called strike by hollering at the umpire "that's a fxcxking strike, that's a fxcxking strike". Does Sales care that untold numbers of kids heard him as he yelled it out? No, it's all about Sale, pathetic performer that he is. The video is easily accessable, just a simple search. He's lucky he didn't get tossed.

This clown gets $27.5m for the 2023 season, AND 2024. The club has a $20m option for 2025, Sale will not be pitching for the Red Sox in 2025, but he'll limp in for 24 and rip them off for another ton of cash.

    Yesterday's Chris Sales scorecard...
3 innings piched, gave up 7 hits, 7 runs scored, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 3 home runs, with a pathetic ERA of 21. He'll probably explode at some point and tear something up as the writers rip him a new a$$. Then he'll be in the IL and avoid pitching for a while. Cora needs to have a come to Jesus moment with this guy.

He pitched 9 games in 2021, 2 games in 2022 and 1 game yesterday. For 12 games, he's been paid a fortune. Should have left this guy in Chicago!!

Chris Sale is a piece of crap

Well, I guess it must be the cold weather in Boston. Red Sox just got swept by the Pirates and are now in last place with a 2-4 record in the AL East. Tampa Bay OTOH have a Yahtzee going with 6 in a row and locked for first place. Although the season is very, very early, the Red Sox bats haven't stepped up in key situations...deja vu. Kinda like the birthday candles glowing brightly, then the dog blows out the candles.

Sadly, we now have the "Red Sox Ace", aka Chris Sale, who is likely to erupt to monumental proportions should he stink up things in Detroit. I've never been a fan of Sale and have barked about him on many occassions. I don't need to regurgitate his 12 starts in 3 years and salary for that PALTRY effort. Injured or not, the 2nd event was a self injury. We'll see how it goes.

Oddly, 42 in Boston with a wind chill in the upper 30s. Here, about 80 miles East of Atlanta, it's 86 !!

He had a high workload in Chicago and is just insanely skinny. 6'6 180ish just isnt a frame thats going to hold up

Even if he was the CY Young pitcher, Bostons staff was expected to be a dumpster fire and is living up to expectations so far

Just throw him out there and see what happens is all they can do at this point.

I agree with the comment about Sale's build. just too slight to be a workhorse. As much as I loved Pedro, it was the same with him. Just too small to hold up over the long haul.

That is true but what do you do with him at this point?
    Release him?
I can't see them doing that!
Bring up some young pitcher who is not ready?
I say they have no choice but to make him pitch and hope he works his way to a win once in a while..
The fans will show management how they feel quickly if he can't get it together.
They are not going to keep paying the kind of money Fenway wants if there is not a good team on the field.
I watch the games on tv for next to nothing but the fans in the ballpark pay the big bucks and will just stop going to games.
That is when things will change at Fenway and not before.

The disgusting reality of Chris Sale's contract. Dave "DUMBO" Dombrowski really screwed John Henry's pooch on this one. The $50 MILLION deferred until forever, makes Bobby Bonilla's deal look like a joke!!! The Red Sox will be paying him TEN MILLION A YEAR FROM 2025 TO 2039 THINK ABOUT THAT!!!! No Steve, they can't get rid of him, he is super glued to John Henry's check book. And yes, no matter what, come hell or high water, the Fenway Faithful, who are mostly oblivious to the innner machinations of contracts and player history, will forever schlep their way to Fenway, long, long after you and I are gone.

Let's not forget this guy got suspended by the Comish for 5 games for fighting with KC, and suspended 5 games for cutting up White Sox uniforms. Let us not forget the rehab assignment that went south when he ripped up the clubhouse.

This clown is a ticking time bomb!!

Not to wish the Red Sox bad vibes, but, I've got my popcorn ready and doubt the "Red Sox Ace" will perform well. I hope I'm wrong.

Read for yourself the Chris Sale saga and the utter lunacy of long term guaranteed contracts.

I know all about him I'm afraid. I do not like him but the Sox signed him and that is that. I have hated those long term contracts since they started appearing years ago. I believe Manny was the first one for the Sox He was weird from the very beginning! Players don't seem to perform as well after signing long term as they do when they are signed in most cases.
They are stuck with Sale so all we can do is see what happens . Run him out there every 5 days until the crowd boos him off the field if there is any crowd left.

They could cut him if they wanted too. There's only one more year left after this season. Hes coming back from TJ, they'll give him this year if not both years and see what he can do. Their rotation is just bad overall anyways. If they really get desperate they could try him in the bullpen, but if they were to cut him I'd be shocked if it happened before the off season

Someone getting suspended for on the field fights who cares. A huge percentage of players have been suspended at some point in their career for on the field stuff.

As far as the deferred money, you should be thanking Dombrowski for that. Differed money helps the teams much more than the players. Money is worth less in the future and means he was playing for less during his playing years. Deferred money is extremely common in big contracts and the teams push for it so they can pocket more now profits which is worth more than the future payments. Players will generally go for it in exchange for money money to offset the delay and to use it as a retirement plan. The Nationals offered Harper a deal that would have paid him through 2070s there were so many deferrals before he left for Philly.

Bonilla retired in 2001, he gets paid through 2035. Wouldnt say that makes his deferrals look like a joke.

Unless he totally comes off the rails and is a detriment to the team, I dont see why they would cut him. They will have to pay him anyways. As terrible as he seems to be, he isnt the worst pitcher on the staff. yet...

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

    I agree completely.
He would then sign with another team and start kicking our ass every time we had to face him and be paying him to do it.
