It was the one I told you about. $2750 was the asking for AU cleaned. They took best offer. I would assume it sold for over 2k since they had just listed it.

Most likely around 2500$. It did not last long on Ebay someone is watching new listings closely. I do as well but maybe once or twice per day and most of the time just once per day.

I think this is the 1st unique coin from this series (Cap & Rays) I have seen for sale on Ebay in 2-3 years. You rarely see them they are usually in large auction houses like Heritage and Stacks. I have seen maybe 1-2 very rare Cap & Ray 8 reales on Ebay over that time and no extremely rare coins.

Having been published in the late 90's, I would assume quite a lot of Cap and Ray varieties are not listed in Resplandores. First time I'm seeing this one, personally, but then again I don't track these on the daily.

Wish someone would do an updated Resplandores. What are the chances of that happening? I would buy a copy.

The eBay piece (which sold for $2300 according to my magic 8-ball) is the same die as the HA piece but DIFFERENT than the @bidask piece. It's... IDK, I guess sort of interesting?? However, it's obviously not a "variety"... nor is it really a true "error". It really, on both dies, just seems to be a case of the diesinker having problems getting the superscript "o" punched in there neatly. It's essentially the same idea as a repunched digit in a date.

By "variety", I mean the same basic design, with minor variations.

GOO or not this date is scarce …..check the pops at both NGC and PCGS

I see the highest grades for a no variety is a 55.

I think the one pictured is a solid XF 45

Certainly XF.

I would say ALL Guanajuato 8R 1825-28 are scarce in ANY grade.
