Question about collecting football sets

Hi Team! I recently started collecting football cards and I'm putting together inexpensive 1-400 base sets of SCORE and DONRUSS because they're available in the retail stores near me. How many blaster boxes do you go through before starting to buy individual cards to fill the holes? I've gone through 5 boxes and I'm starting to accumulate too many dups and inserts. What's your strategy? Where do you have the best luck finding inexpensive singles besides eBay? Thanks!

    A local sports card shop. Online ,but try to buy from one seller at one time to save on shipping and taxes.
