I purchased this coin recently, and at the time, I thought it was warped or damaged. But now, after looking at it in better light, I think the "damage" actually occurred during the minting process. Look at the reverse image, the darker area at the top is better struck than the rest of the coin, and the "crack" is actually raised metal. Could the die have broken as the coin was struck?
