Serialized cards - raw vs grading for investing

I've collected since the late 80s and decided I want to sell 99% of my collection and focus on completing some specific high dollar sets.
Regarding serialized cards (is there another term?)
Seems raw cards carry similar value to a grade 8 or 9 if they appear in mint condition. A grade 10 seems to typically prop up the value.
If you had 1/1, 1/5, 4/4, 5/5, 1/10, 10/10, 15/15, 25/25...
Would you grade any if they were in 9/10 condition? If so, which? You can always remove them if they grade 8 or lower and get your best raw market value.

Would you divulge to the potential buyer of your "raw" card that it used to be an 8 (or lower)?
I wouldn't see why not. There are people who crack and resubmit because they think it's a half or full point higher.
I definitely don't want to try and doop anyone but a fingerprint can lower a grade I realized so likely will need to wipe down all the holo/refractors. I'm nervous to touch the 93 scoring kings cards.
I've bought graded cards but this will be my first time getting any graded. My 83 year old uncle wants a couple dozen graded also so I'm trying not to make rookie mistakes.
Just remember, most first time graders overgrade their cards before sending them in.
