I tried a google search and didn't come up much. Any info on the person would be great.

Medal arrived today. I had no idea it was such a small diameter. It's a little smaller than a half dollar.
Not sure why I was expecting a larger one....

Could this be the Malcolm W. Hodkins who received the medal? He was born and died in California.

Here is more info on the ancestors and spouses of Malcolm Wallace Hodkins that @mr1874 found.
1940 census - shown married to Doris (apparently his first wife)
1950 census - shown married to Neva (second wife, with her child age 9; her first husband died in Europe in WW II, 1944)
In 1950 he was a warehouse supervisor for a petroleum operator.
In 1967 he and Neva divorced.
In 1970 he married Irene.
His grandfather Louis lived in Carson City in the 1880 census, which I suppose is a potential coin connection.
