1942 Mercury Dime and PVC?
Once again, hello and thanks for sharing your knowledge!
From my previous posts, you might have read that I inherited a pretty big coin collection from my late father-in-law. I have made myself over to his mercury dimes. A lot of these were in coin folders, and have a green haze on them (this is not tarnishing, looks different).
After doing some research, I'm pretty sure this is due to him storing them in PVC based pockets. I've removed them and have moved them over to non-PVC protectors. I've read that even if you remove them from the PVC based pockets, that you still have to remove the green haze from them.
However, I've heard from one side of the camp that you never clean your coins, another saying to only clean your coins if they were in PVC holders, and another saying that you can clean your coins with things like MS-70 or E-Z-Zest only.
Not really sure what I should do in this case. Eventually, I would like to get some of these graded as they have no scratches, and are excellent shape except for a haze on most of them.
Any advise would be awesome! Thanks again!

You can clean PVC off with 100% pure acetone. (Don't use nail polish remover)
Also, do not rub just soak and rinse.
