Personally I wouldn't request a refund for an express package which arrived a day or 2 late. They rely on commercial flights which may get delayed or canceled and is out of their control. I mean I got essentially what I paid for. As to the second, I'd be all over them due to a lack of tracking. If there was nothing after a day or so you should have called your local P O and had them look into it.

I finally got one of those round a bouts where the package was used down the road for a ping pong object and instead of coming my way it went back to where it came from. Was just a cheap eBay item so I don't have the hots to get it ASAP.

So you’re saying that if your package that was advertised and guaranteed to be delivered in 2 days, and it took 4 days to be delivered, and because of that you were entitled to a full refund, you would NOT exercise that option?

I wish more people were as generous as you are, because in my profession if you don’t deliver what you promised, you don’t get paid and it’s as simple as that. If I think that time constraints could pose an issue for a deadline, then I make sure to factor that into my proposal to make sure that I’m not making promises that I can’t keep.

Edit: as to your recommendation to “call my local po and have them look into it” - I did do that, along with filing a “service request”. Better yet, I went there in and waited in line, to be told the manager wasn’t in yet. Left my info with the employee who told me the manager would call me to discuss. I received no such call.

Getting any useful information out of the post office is a crapshoot, at best. Many years ago, before it was possible to print your own shipping labels, I had a problem at my post office getting insurance on coins packaged in a #10 envelope. According to the clerk, the post office doesn't insure letters, and anything in an envelope was a letter. There is nothing in the DMM that confirms this claim, so I went in to talk to the postmaster. She told me "Bob's been here a long time and he does things his own way. If you want insurance, wait for another clerk."

I will admit that it’s possible my issue is localized. South Florida is notoriously slow for any type of mail, and the one common denominator of all my outgoing packages is that they pass through the West Palm Distribution Center. My priority mail package (vaultbox) is now past day 7 and still not delivered. Coincidentally, packages sent to me don’t get delayed nearly as often. It just so happens that most of my troubles arise when I’m the shipping party 😕

That is always a possibility. On another message board (some time ago), I asked a question regarding how USPS handled shipments and was told to look at my receipt, as the info would be there. I mailed the package at a rural location (very rural, town population about 50) which did not issue computerized receipts. In fact, their scale wasn't even digital. Lots of people seem to assume that the way things work at their local PO are the same everywhere.

There are others here who've said in the past that they wouldn't ask for a refund for a no harm no foul situation, but you're welcome to ask for one if you want to.

I've always had great service if I had a need to call my local P O. Have you tried calling the destination P O where it was sent to? You can get the number from the USPS site.

I posted my UPS picture last week. I had another package today. $3600 in gold coins, signature required. It was laying out on the FRONT counter. And they didn't make me sign for it.

So, I won't pretend USPS is perfect. But they are still better than their 2 competitors.

Agreed. Some time ago, my dad shipped me two steel tire rims through UPS. They damaged one of them.
