Defining Joe DiMaggio by decade

How would most people categorize Joe DiMaggio's great career? Is he a "30's" guy or a "40's" guy?
He had moments of true greatness in both. He's one of the few guys that are hard to assign to a decade.
Looking for opinions.

40's. Became a household name during that decade. Then passing the torch to Mantle in 51.
Like you said, very hard to draw a line.
If I had to choose it would be 1940's being that his streak came in the 40's, he had his most at bats in the 40's, and he is one of many MLB players to have served in the armed forces during WWII instead of getting to play baseball.
1940's
1940s

He also had moments of greatness in the 1950's, when he got to sleep with Marilyn.
That's tough because statically his best years were pre World War II. However if you had to assign him a decade I agree with most posters here that the 1940's would be that decade. It's the only full calendar decade he played (minus a couple years for military service) and it fits nicely into the narrative of Ruth = 20's, Gehrig = 30's, DiMaggio = 40's, Mantle = 50's.
