Grading Questions

The first card came back as N8: Miscut. Was wondering what the odds are of a better result if resubmitted, or what is my best option? Is it really that bad of a miscut as to not qualify for grading?

The Mantle came back as a 7 as shown. I think it should be more an 8? Perhaps the slight off-centering means a max grade of 7 no matter how nice otherwise?

I just wanted to seek opinions, as this was my first grading submission. Thanks.

I have had cards come back as miscut get a grade upon resubmitting.
That Mantle looks nice, but I think it's graded properly.

It looks in your picture like Aaron might be cut on an angle across the top. Can you make a pic of the top next to a straight edge? If it's not square I've had MC and resu9bmitting won't help.

    This ^

Agreed, just resub it and see if it works the next time.

In my experience with grading... there are no stupid questions.... just stupid answers.

Mantle will not bump. I agree with jimq on the Aaron. top looks iffy. If not to expensive , re-send or send to SGC.

  • Here are a few more photos of the Aaron. Not sure exactly how to represent the card against a straight edge, but hopefully that tells the story. Appreciate the input guys!

Aaron doesn’t look terribly miscut to me. The bottom edge appears to slope up a tad from left to right. In my experience N8 is rather subjective and the card does often grade when resubmitted. If you’re willing to go through the trouble of resubmitting.

With better pics I don't think it's cut all that bad either. Can you carefully lay it on top of another card to make sure it's square? Some cards get MC because they won't fit in the holder right. if it looks good that way I would probably try again. Good Luck!

The Aaron card will fit in a holder. The borders are "even" enough with the black border line so you know it's not miscut. The question seems to be the potential of trimming, unless PSA decided it was cut unevenly from the factory.
    I would resubmit.

Any guesses as to a grade on the Aaron upon resubmission? I see about a 7, or 6 minimum.

My guess is a 6. A bonus if it comes back a 7.

    6 at best.
