It takes no physical ability at all. Heck a 400 lb fat guy can hit it as far as a 110 person. If tiger is a athelete by playing golf then Mr. Moneybags is a athelete for playing Monopoly.

Has anyone watched shows about BABE ruth? I watched about 6 or 7 and most of them suggested that most beleived that he was half black. Now it has been proven that black atheletes compared to white athletes on average are better. Anyone saw or heard about this?

Next, I don't see where you can't understand the fact that golf is NOT a sport. Let's reveal golf for what it truly is. It is a game that is played by millions of people around the world. Golf carts, caddies, and the golf bag carriers that people roll behind them remove the majority of the physical (i.e. lugging a heavy bag for several kilometers) side of golf. In my books, if you can get off the couch after several years of inactivity and complete a round without breaking a sweat, it's a game. Golf is a mind game more than anything else. How can I maximize my drive? How can I use the wind to get the ball where I want it? Which club will do the best job for this situation? This places golf in the category of chess. I don't think that too many people would argue that chess is a sport. Give two people a chess set and tell them to walk through a meadow with it while playing and you've got golf. Ask the question sometime: "Do you do any sports?" "Sure, I golf." Armchair athletes, has-been athletes and never-were athletes can all proudly proclaim that they are "sportsmen" if they play golf. The older you get, the more seductive this becomes. You can't run, play basketball, bike or do anything else like you used to but, by gosh, you can play golf! You're still an athlete. Aging boomers are prime candidates for this argument.

that's funny... i don't see chess on ESPN... u are very sheltered Derrick... i don't know if it's because u spend your whole day on the internet or if it's because u are close-minded, but u really have issues when it comes to opinions... i can say it a million times, but you'll never get it, golf is a sport and their is physical "exertion"... maybe the LEAST physical out of any other sport, but IT IS A SPORT... and yes golfers DO train... and yes golfers ARE IN SHAPE... u think anyone can play huh? so why don't u try out? it takes more than skill, it takes endurance... putt-putt is a game, multi-day 18-hole golf touraments are sports... any sport is "accessible" to all people... u make no sense - u just ramble... give it up cuz i don't care what u think...

Golf is a sport. How many can say they can place balls as well as they do. Derrick- All you know about balls is ebok. You cannot honestly say that you can do what golfers do, can you?? It is a sport, plain and simple. Once again, opinions are not facts.

I read the lance armstrong book. What a great book! To nearly die from nut cancer that had spread to his lungs and head. Yet, come back after all the surgeries, chemo and pain that he endoured. They gave him about a 25% chance to live. Anyone that can come back and accomplish what he did and is doing right now, is in my opinion, the greatest athelete that ever lived. On top of that he has a really hot wife kik.
Ali wasn't afraid to fight in the ring, but he wouldn't even fight for his own country! He moved to Africa and became muslim so he wouldn't have to go to the war.
