I would rather not get coins for Christmas because my friends and family know nothing about coins. They have given me some in the past. All the stuff you see over hyped and over priced everywhere. Even if they found something nice like an ASE they most likely paid 3 times what you could get it for through normal channels.

Merry Christmas everyone and a healthy New Year.

That's why I prefer not to tell people I'm into coins. Its more intimate than perfume in a way.

@olympicsos Well they kind of knew because I started when I was a little kid.

My dad found this in circulation years ago. This came to us as a gift this year. I wish Jerry hadn't autographed it

Darkside, but a 1969 Liberia Proof set in the original packaging configuration (coins in cello, with a hard plastic holder to put them in)

I browse the EBay listings for stuff I am interested in and put in on the watch list and my wife surprises me with a couple or three. I do understand the sentiment, though. My wife's 93 year old grandmother knows I collect and she is bad to pick up stuff from the circulars in the mail and stuff. I ask her not to do it, but she does, so I have my wife put the $$ back into her purse or bank account.

I received the red book for Civil War Tokens, and no coins for myself. I did give out some coins as gifts, namely some starters for my mother-in-law's Sacagawea collection, type coins for my nieces and nephews, and for each of my siblings sets of dimes minted in the years our grandparents were born.
