What would one do with 800 sets of 1989 Topps football??

The buyer paid at minimum $7.75 per set. I guess if you have the time and patience to slowly unload EIGHT HUNDRED SETS at even $10-15 a set more power to you!

Wow.. that is a funky buy. Looks to me like xmas and birthday gifts for all male kids under 14 for the next few years.

Maybe try an experiment with an open box and a swimming pool? See how long it takes them to sink?

Whoa now that is an idea. Has there been such a God here who did such cool stuff like that before here ? Would love to meet his greatness. 😇

Please note that complete-set status within this offering has not been verified, and that the cards have not been counted or fully collated; details stated with respect to this lot's contents are approximations only.

I admire the purchaser more than most people can imagine.

If you have both the disposable income to afford this lot, and the free time it’s going to take to collate, you’ve had a good life.

When and if grading costs become more reasonable, put together
    a few "10" sets.

I know personally, there's nothing I enjoy more than dropping $6K on items with descriptions that include "Condition is presumably NM/MT to MT or finer" and "Please note that complete-set status within this offering has not been verified, and that the cards have not been counted". This will probably be the guy's next purchase:

The lot was most likely won by 4SC (or another large PSA submitter / dealer).

By the looks of it, the cards are in "vendor" or "dealer" type boxes that wholesalers used at the time of release. Each individual (800)-card box is full of just one player, so it's all sorted and would be very easy for a large submitter to go through and pull out cards for grading. And if the lot isn't already picked over, there could be a good amount of gem mint examples.

It's actually not a bad deal at all if the lot hasn't been weeded through for grade-able examples already.

And I'd put money on it that we see some bulk lots of 1989 Topps Football raw cards in NESC ebay's listings sometime soon...
