Chaim Bloom appears to be asleep at the wheel and his recent offers to Bogaerts have been regarded as a "slap in the face". While Bloom's incompetence to lock down perhaps the best shortstop in the game, I guess he figures he'll just slide Trevor Story over to shortstop and just absorb the wrath of the Fenway Faithful. Bogaerts is now touring other clubs and testing the waters, looks like the Cubs could be the front runners.

Too bad, I'm sure the price would have been beyond crazy though
It's competitive malpractice not to either attempt to contend, aggressively attempt to re-sign Bogaerts, or trade him. You just can't turn a star player into a last place finish and a draft pick between rounds 4 and 5.
