First Aureus - Long Desired and Finally Purchased

My main collection is a Liberty $2.50 set but I have a small collection of Roman ancients purchased as a teenager in the 1970's. A 1st Century aureus has long been a dream coin. Now years later I finally purchased one at this week's Heritage sale.
What made up my mind was the chance to purchase a Titus aureus. When I read Suetonius ages ago I recall thinking that Titus was one of the better, but short reigning, emperors unfortunately overshadowed by his famous father Vespasian and his cruel brother Domitian.

congrats on this purchase. Good to read that side interests are part of your interests. I am well behind the curve with ancients.
Best wishes in your pursuit of 2.5 Libs.

Nice coin! I never owned a first century aureus. The only one I did own was a third century Aurelian. I sold it through a Coin Galleries auction back in the 1980s. How I wish I had never sold my Roman collection.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
I am thinking of trying to assemble a small collection of Roman and Byzantine gold - 1 per century. Thanks to some earlier Byzantine purchases I have the 6th, 7th and 8th centuries covered. A grander idea would be the 12 Caesars but Galba, Otho and Vitellius would be pricey to add.
