Maybe it’s true but damn. Arizona mortgaged the farm on Murray even though they knew there were problems. Everyone knows Kingsbury is done after this year but does it fix all the problems in Arizona?

Welcome to the new NFL where all the fortunes of the team(pick a name) is pinned on the QB and his performance.
I'm not picking on anyone, but the best highlight example might be Tom Brady. I think he has played pretty well for most of the season, but Tampa Bay was hoping he could still be "lightning in a bottle" and take them to the promised land. He hasn't displayed the same magic as in the past and the Bucs are under .500. Ditto for Russell Wilson: Denver actually thought he'd give them a shot at the playoffs and the media talking heads fell into line and said the same. He has played ridiculously poor and the team is terrible as a result.
A better example very close to home for me is what the Cleveland Browns have done, squandered pick after pick and tons of cash on the "savior" QB, finally hitting a little luck with Mayfield that wore off quickly. Now they are on to Watson as the revolving door continues. I always said they would have been better served by an average QB while they directed the cash and picks towards the rest of the team, but what do I know?? Now they will sit Brissett(who fits my bill and has done extremely well) while they hope that the $245 million works out.
There aren't any guarantees in anything and yet these NFL teams pin there futures on one player. If that player doesn't play as expected or suffers a serious injury it immediately renders that team as a .500 also ran. I don't understand that line of thinking. The Rams were lucky to squeeze a SB out of their maneuvering that brought them Stafford, now they'll probably see the division taillights for several years, the same for Arizona after they made their choice. The list of teams is only getting longer but that's how owners, GM's and coaches want to play in today's world. Gather them together and ask how those five QB's taken in round one a few years ago have worked out?? Then take a look around the league and see what's going on with the other 27 picks.
But like I said, welcome to the new NFL.
