That's a bad read all the way around, at least from my perspective. I am watching two items, one I'm high bidder and another the under-bidder when I last checked sometime on Saturday. I went to log-in Sunday early evening and saw the problem. My interest in this is to check to see if I need to raise either bid, no desperation involved at all.

I guess what I’m getting at is the outage/delay in the closing time of the auctions created quite a stir. Must be a lot of desirable coins going through this week? Fear of losing out on certain coins is coming through strong, and I find that odd in a Sunday after thanksgiving auction.

I hope everyone wins the coins they had their eyes on.

To give you an idea of what happens; from 7am to 2pm yesterday I had 18 bids placed on my coins. From 2pm until the shut down I had 80 bids placed. Bids ramp up as you near the close. As a seller I want as many people tuned in as possible. There are many people that sit and wait until the last second. Every bid means more money for the seller. Fingers crossed they all come back tomorrow.

Nothing could have been done differently. Just my observation.

Again, I think you missed it. The way the GC auctions go is that they close starting some time Sunday evening around 7pm till 10pm. A typical bidder will bid and check periodically during the week(s) leading to the Sunday close. Imagine going to the Great Collections website, expecting to bid or to see bids placed on your coins, only to find the message posted on page one with nothing else.

Most of the concern is just curiosity and worry for the site and the owners who are held in high regard here. It really doesn't matter if I win/lose anything, but it would be bad and sad to see consignors hurt and Ian R. suffer financial loss due to internet shenanigans or an outage of some type.

Sheet happens. The sun will rise again in the morning. I don't understand the angst.

‘’Fingers crossed they all come back tomorrow.’’

As I mentioned before, my observation was that overall bidding was solid already for the majority of coins I reviewed an hour or more before the shut down. But, even at this moment, there are some coins still at a nice discount to typical selling prices. My guess is things will be very strong in the hours before the close of this auction due to the high publicity of the situation. For sure, there will be much to talk about after the close!

Agreed, if it isn't fixed soon there'll be another extension. It's now 7:40am EDT and it isn't fixed.

I find it facinating that the auctions have been available to bid on for at least 2 weeks, and people are trying desperately to bid on coins now which end in approximately 36 hours? My initial thought when I saw the outage was that the auction prices were going to end lower than expected due to being changed to Tuesday. Now I’m thinking prices will be higher than expected due to this sudden surge in demand?

I did not bid in that auction at all. I hope it got resolved for the sellers.

From what I saw, most final bids were placed before the outage happened Sunday. Very few items accelerated in price just before the close on Tuesday. Sellers and buyers should all be pleased, as there were no last minute surprises.

Kinda feels weird that another auction is gonna happen in 2 days from now. Very quick
