John Connally Autographed Low Serial # FRN's Sold in 1988

I wonder how many collectors responded to this article in the April 8, 1988, edition of Coin World.

Having grown up in Houston, I remember the '80s oil market crash well. It would have been quite the embarrassment for Governor Connolly to be in such dire financial straits but for the fact that he was in good company at the time. Oil has always been a major factor in the economy of Texas, and remains so even today.

Thx for posting. I recall the sale.

$20 was real money back then. I would have been more inclined to search out an uncirculated bill and send it to him. (I didn't but wish I had).

Connolly ran for president in 1980. He didn't last long in the primaries but I did get a couple signed items such as a photo and letters.

He has important connections to history. He was in the car in Dallas with JFK and was wounded.
