Regarding the $15 Special and Qualifiers...

I have a good 100+ cards that I will be sending into grading in bursts over the next month while the special is ongoing for club members. These are for my PC, and therefore I do not grade autographs guaranteed by the manufacturer.

I had noticed they said autographs were not eligible, however I was wondering if I opt out like I usually do I would be able to send them in? Not sure if anyone is aware or has seen anything about that as of yet?

I think when you say Auto's are not eligible, that is referring to Dual Grading (dual service), where they grade the card AND Authenticate/grade the auto. If you send in a factory auto'ed card in the special, as long as it is from a certain year or newer (i forget the cutoff), they will just grade the card. Regardless, what you are talking about has nothing to do with Qualifiers... And you can't opt out of those anymore anyways.

You are correct- sorry for that. What I meant when I said that, was that I only get the card itself graded. Thank you very much for your response!

any cards 1998+ that are manufacturer autographed/certified do not require dual service and can be sent under any normal level, value applicable. autos from these years dont require authentication or grading and only the card will be graded.

any cards 1997 and below that are manufacturer autographed/certified REQUIRE to be sent in as a dual service for auto grading or authentication and are ineligible for the bulk or any other type of discounted service that normal cards can be sent through.

most submitters to PSA do not opt for auto grading unless required under the above cutoff rules. some do opt for the dual service even when its not required and honestly, it doesnt really add anything to the value in the eyes of most PSA graded collectors. if anything, it could hurt should the auto get a 9 or below.

  • I guess everyone is different, but if my auto card has a really nice looking auto that looks like a 10 to me, I'd rather have that 10 on the label. A dual graded 10 / 10 card is really nice to have. As well, if the card grade is not going to be a 10, but you can get a 10 for the auto, I think that enhances the card.

I do agree it might hurt the card if the auto is less than 10.

    Yep, only 10's will help.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

Completely agree here- when its a really low count card, with a beautiful on card auto I am 100% doing a grade as I feel auto grades are much easier to land a ten. However, any sticker autos, especially the Prizm #/1-10 (that for whatever god forsaken reason have sticker autos) do NOT get grades under any circumstance as its usually a scribble since the kid is trying to get the 5000 autos done so he can catch a break and they normally look like sh*t.

Anyways the overwhelming majority of my ungraded collection consists of rookies who have been traded/cut/practice squad etc and once they hit it big I sell to fund my grails. Its done well so far in the downturn market
