I had a nice raw 71 Starter set. They were running an $18 dollar special. I thought I would pick out the nicest ones and see what happened. I did not expect anything earth shattering especially for 71 FB, Results were better than expected but would have love to hit an 8 on the Alworth or Lilly. I will post scans in this thread when I have them in hand.

That's a nice run. I did the same on a bunch of 73s earlier this year, but didn't get quite as many 8s.

Can't wait to see the '71's!

I'll bet they are ALL beauties.

A favorite set of mine. Those look great and congrats on those 8's. Nothing easy about hitting an 8 with that set.

    The Humphrey is always tuff.

Kiss me once, shame on you.
    Kiss me twice.....let's party.
  • Those 71s are great but I love that Faulk Rookie Roll Call. One of my favorite cards ever. Hard to find and almost never in nice condition. Your 8 feels about as good as it gets. I remember when that set came out I was trying my hand as a dealer and not doing very well. But those Rookie Roll Calls were the Pinnacle, no pun intended, for me and I think others for a brief period of time. Cards did not look and feel like that too often back then. Was like 21 and probably paid $50 for the table at a show and sold about $70 in cards. I remember the guy who had the table diagonally from me had them all displayed and the Marshall was $250. Felt very out of reach but I was stupid enough to save up some money and buy a Heath Shuler and 2 Bam Morris for about the same money in the following months. 😊 Still love all the stuff that was big during that failed attempt. Faulk Bledsoe Natrone Means. 94 Upper Deck Holoview Reds. Hideo Nomo. Finest Refractors. Love the Z Teams from that 95 Zenith set and just had my Faulk pop as a 9 so happy to add that to the PC.

I still think that 95 Zenith football was one of the best looking sets ever made.
