I'd say they're someone to avoid, and would appreciate you sending me a PM with their ebay and forum IDs please.

I would say out him too but if it's against the rules to out a sheister, then so be it. Please pm me his eBay user as well.

    Thanks!

Reason is that we don't get to hear both sides of the story, and through PMs PCGS can't have liability.

For sure a snake move on the buyer's part, whether it was planned out from the beginning or something he saw he can take advantage of later. Ebay has made returns for buyers very easy and that is good in some sense when the item is not as described or pictured, but I can see that it can be abused. With graded coins and cards, the buying atmosphere has been made very safe on that alone.

I am not sure if the policy changed, but if PayPal is used on an eBay transaction, a buyer has up to 90 days to return an item if it is not as described. That "not as described" can be extended to mean just about anything.

I would think/hope that screenshots of the "buyer" attempting to sell the coins on, hopefully with substantially the same description, would make filing a SNAD far more difficult.

    Daltex,

I hear you, but after listening to some cases on this message board regarding how other buyers scammed a seller despite evidence that could exonerate the seller, eBay sided with the buyer.

There are so many grievances we can nurse, if there is nothing you can do about it why continue to dwell on it? Each purchase should be seen as distinct because clearly on ebay anyone can return what they buy, you are taking that risk, so no sense making a "deal" if you are going to be losing money on any one item. I've taken a lot of losses over the years, sometimes you just want to be done with some items that are not selling. A seller can always make explicit that they are selling items as a no return deal and only on that basis.

That happened to me. Buyer admitted to filing "SNAD" specifically so he wouldn't have to pay return shipping- through eBay's message system. I talked to customer service (should be renamed "bad buyer enabling service", if you ask me), they agreed that the buyer was abusing their SNAD policy and still required me to pay the return postage.

I noticed on his store banner that he has a phone # and email address listed for potential outside ebay sales.

    Is that allowed?

It wasn’t allowed, last I heard. I wonder how many people, if any, will report his listings that include images, containing contact information?

It made many really mad when they took away seller power neg bad buyers. It served for us warn the seller community and keep bad buyers in check.

Well, that's repulsive. IMO it is symptomatic of the problems engendered by the switch I've discussed elsewhere when eBay shifted its focus from being the world's largest yard sale to an avenue for retailers, wholesalers, and liquidators. Can't blame them as 10,000 accounts each generating $10,000 in revenue would be vastly more profitable than 1,000,000 accounts generating $100, but it has made eBay hazardous to anyone wishing to sell other than at least as an adjunct to a business.
