1948 S Washington Quarter, possible RPM FS-501, asking for your opinions.

These 2 Washington Quarters appear to be Variety Vista's listing for a 1948 S/S FS-501 RPM. What do you think.

I don't think either one is. The doubling is shelf-like on both... indicating machine/mechanical doubling. That is if you are referring to the the doubling on the right side.
The one on the left looks more like it to me.

.
how did you come up with that image for fs-501?
i didn't discover the 501 but i did submit the first one to pcgs that was attributed and that rpm is unmistakable not only due to the major spread but the fact whomever punched that mm did so like 3-4 times or more. it is a HIGHLY impressive rpm in-hand and there probably aren't too many in all of usa coinage that is quite such a mess.
would be nice if i still had my images as it is a beautiful color toned example but not close to top-pop and being the only unc toned example, quite a travesty it isn't on the CF page for the variety.
hope it helps.
With only 4 examples graded this is my MS 64. Notice the die polish lines on the Obverse? Great picture of the S. @LanceNewmanOCC
I used to be famous now I just collect coins.

From the VV website. I had 3 of these for over 25 years, out of my birthyear mint set(which I still wish I had)

ok.
you just accidentally chose RPM 1 which is not the fs-501.
(i've had that trip me up on more than 1 occasion)
25 yeas! i didn't even know numismatics existed 25 years ago...
edited to add: i have it on good authority that i didn't even know my a$&&& from my elbow 25 years ago!
Yeah... those numbers can be easily confused!
The left one looks like it could be, I see the notching on the lower left part of the S. The one on the right looks like it could be either machine doubling or an RPM north. Any chance you could show both with the motto and wreath to see if they line up with the VV pictures?

Not so good, I may have got them mixed up.

Agreed, great presentation!
Ok, so now seeing the whole picture neither one of yours lines up with VV#1. That mintmark is slightly below the stems and almost centered over the R in Quarter.
Your #1 is on the right side of the R and your #3 is nearly touching the stems which makes it look to me like you have two different coins there. I do still think your #1 is an RPM for sure though.
