I witnessed in person twice a year the career of Namath. In a game that didn’t protect receivers and quarterbacks he changed the game. What could have been if he didn’t suffer injuries to both knees that limited his mobility. On the field and off the field he was one of a kind.

He had the World on a string for a while but the years have not been really kind to Joe.

Considering he's now 80 years old, I'd say he looks pretty good for his age.

He might look pretty good in the picture but the "game" clearly took its toll on him physically. He's lucky he can stand up straight and still walk.

My 4th grade teacher, Kitty Sue Beard dated Joe (1964). She was an Auburn grad dating a Bama player.
All I can say is Joe had good taste, she was good looking and came from a very rich family.

Joe and Ray Perkins at Bama.

There was the Suzy Kolber incident in 2003. He says that was his bottom moment, and he hasn't had a drink since.

Yeah, that was tough, and he could have done better.

It was good to be Joe
    And have your own world
    It helped to make friends
It was good to meet girls
    A sweet little thing
    Who can't run away
It was good to be Joe
    Whatever it paid

R.I.P. Brother...... We Miss You. 😢
