I attended his last concert in Greenville, SC just a couple of days before he suffered a stroke. He was only able to perform about 10 songs. RIP. He was the last surviving member of the Million Dollar Quartet.
I just looked at this set on eBay a few minutes ago. Love those cards. Being a senior citizen (age 71), I remember most of the stars. There is even a complete set up for auction.
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.

I did not know she was the daughter of his bass player. I do know one thing though. Had I been the bass player, and he tried that little stunt with my 13-year-old daughter, he certainly wouldn't have lived to age 87!!!

I did not know she was the daughter of his bass player. I do know one thing though. Had I been the bass player, and he tried that little stunt with my 13-year-old daughter, he certainly wouldn't have lived to age 87!!!
Oh you think that's something? Loretta Lynn was married at 15 (after knowing her husband "Mooney" for only a month! And I thought me and my late wife getting married only four months after meeting online was a quick courtship!!), already had four children by the time she was 20, and was already a grandmother at 29!!
Somehow they stayed together for almost 50 years until Mooney passed away even though he was an alcoholic and their relationship was stormy to say the least. Loretta once remarked, "he never hit me one time that I didn't hit him back twice."
