What do you guys think of this $20 Lib as a type coin?

I've been wanting to fill my spot for a type 3 $20 Lib for a while, I'm on the fence about this coin right now because I have to stretch a bit. Its an 07-d so not a rare date, but I think it would be a good type coin with the D mint mark. When I saw it was was impressed, I've seen less attractive coins in 65 holders. Appears to have minimal bag marks and really clean fields, the reverse especially. I'm wondering if this one was held back by its luster, or the cheek cut which doesn't really detract much for me. This dealer has a return policy so I'm leaning towards giving it a shot, but I have to spend more than normal 64 money

I like it a lot!!! My type of gold for sure as it looks like a great strike.
Congrats on a real beauty.

I like it. Looks very lusterous (sp?), bet it's nice in hand. Strike is nice and strong too.
I like it a lot. A perfect fit for a type set and a D mint to boot.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
Looks pretty darn nice, those fields are creamy.
Nice coin

I think I want it!
Looks beautiful
It’s a nice looking coin with great color and nice surfaces. The cheek cut bothers me from the picture which can of course be deceiving. If I had a return option which you do I would proceed. However I wouldn’t buy this coin in an auction. 20th century type 3’s are not rare so there’s no reason to compromise.
I would not be in a rush to add this one. Look for a clean cheek . I would rather have a hit in the fields than right on the cheek...the focal point of the coin. You will see that first every time you look at her. Pass.
That is a beauty . . . . . . .superb Type coin . .

Initially it looks really nice. I would pass on it as I don’t like the scratch / dig on the cheek. I shy away from material where I question can move quickly.
Just right!

It’s very nice. The cheek hit is deeper than most, but most have a whole bunch of not as deep bag marks that make them look worse than this one. It might take a long time to find one with a cleaner cheek I’m thinking.

You will have a very hard time finding a better looking 64+ in better date coin. Reverse is outstanding. Obverse fields look great compared to most 64+ coins. Liberty is in very good shape besides the cut. Most have hits to the cheek. As always, the biggest thing is if you like it compared to the others you have looked at.

If you pass, let me know where it is. I think that is a great looking coin.
I like it a lot. Lustrous, almost glowing.
It may even glow in the dark. Worth trying!
Seriously, with a good return policy I'd go for it.
As an add on, CAC has only approved 148 across all grades and about 36 higher.

Better looking than many 1904 in MS65 at probably about the same price and under 1/10 the population. I'd want to see it in hand, especially given that mark on the cheek that stands out in the picture.

Pass. Common date, common type coin. No reason to pay a premium for such a coin. Just wait for a better buy to come along.
I think it's a great $20 type coin; I'm not sure it's as great a value. For example, the 1907-D in MS64+ shows PCGS price guide of $6,000 while a more common date is as low as $3500. I'd prefer the 1899 at $4,500 all coins being equal. Add the CAC premium and voila.
I like it but I don’t know what the price is. If you feel the price is good, get it!

The asking price is darn close to 65 money and from the images it's easy to see why. You could make an offer and see if they'd take less. That's what I'd do anyway.
I'd like to get a D mint Lib $20 myself.
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
Guide on a 65CAC is $10,600 and $5700 for a 64CAC. This one is definitely priced more towards 64 than 65.

Thanks to everyone that chimed in, I pulled the trigger. While I was mulling over the decision, I went through dozens of auction records of 64+ coins, looking for coins with perfect cheeks, or appeared to have more eye appeal than this one does. I found none, and I also couldn't find a non- cac 65 that I liked better. Of course pictures can be very deceiving, so if there’s anything that I’m not happy with when it’s in hand, I’ll exercise the return option.

There nothing wrong with that purchase 🙂
Congratulations, that's a great coin!
