PCGS Rattler / OGH Slab Box Question

One of the random thoughts that ran through my mind when I was putting a new slab in my type set box was 'For the older holders like the rattlers etc. did PCGS send them in a box and if so, were the slots narrower than today's slots?' I have not often been in a position to get a box worth of coins graded especially back 'in the good old days' so not sure how PCGS would have delivered an order of 20+ coins back then. Maybe just in a cardboard box like I got with my Collectors Club submission this year?
Not really a pressing issue for me but just something I wonder about, any insight would be appreciated so I can cross it off of my knowledge needed list!

For 21-40 coins I’m guessing they used something like the pictured box in this thread.

Here’s mine, with a handful of rattlers.
Reminds me….. I almost stepped on a rattler while out with my dogs two days ago. Saw him just in time to see him slink back in his hole.

Rattler boxes are legit, I've got a few tucked away. Not cheap.

yes! Nothing wrong with the other coins but that 1799 is something special.
