Interesting email we received...Coin Memo Deal gone Bad?

Got this in our inbox yesterday afternoon. Anyone else out there get it or know anything about this?
And if true why do you wait 4 years to do something?

Hello,

I am sending this information to all coin and currency dealers and show promoters in the USA.

The following list of 88 slabs with an agreed upon value of $95,660 were shipped to dealer Robert L. Hughes of Rare Coin Investments in Malibu, California in August and September of 2018. They were to be sold by Mr. Hughes, with the agreed upon value to be paid to Alaska Coin Exchange and the excess retained by Mr. Hughes as his commission. As of October 2022, four years later, these slabs have not been paid for and remain the property of Alaska Coin Exchange. Please let me know if you see any of these slabs or know the whereabouts of any of them.

Please forward this notice to other dealers, show promoters, and law enforcement.

Any assistance you can give me in the recovery of my inventory will be greatly appreciated!

I've checked your list against my coins, and unfortunately, I don't have any. I hope other readers will also check.

Have you plugged the cert numbers into both the NGC and PCGS coin verification features? This could show you if a coin is part of someone's Registry set.

This far down the line these could have been cracked, resubbed, or sold raw...
Seems odd. If I had $100K worth of stuff out on consignment to someone I'd want to know exactly where the stuff was and want regular updates on status, sold items etc.

This kind of thing happens a lot, twice here in the past decade. One in particular, guy who had been in business for a long time, decides he wanted to do strictly bullion going forward, had lots of key dates, better dates, and collector coins. worked out an arangement with another up and coming dealer. Let him take the group to FUN several years ago to get a jump start, and guy dissapeared with about 400k worth of coins, never to be seen again.

I have not received any such email, but understanding that you are not part of this in any way, I would feel so much more information should be needed to even make a statement as to the agreement between two parties. Sad for the loser, if so, and for the seller if not so. Bad either way.
