My latest big-card win (and the most I've ever spent on a single card)

My third T206 Cobb won in REA's September Auction. When I saw I saw it I knew I had to win it. It's a technically correct 3 with its lower-left edge chipping and top-left corner wear but its overall presentation, especially its bright white borders, beautiful color and spot-on image registration won me over.

I bought my first Cobb (bat off) at the Baltimore National in 2012 for nearly 1/5 the amount I just spent for the "bat on." I wish I bought all my T206 Cobb's back then because this PSA 4.5 is a five-figure card now.

I bought my green Cobb from my favorite shop in August 2020 for 50% less than I spent for the bat on. At that time the $5K it cost me was the most I had spent on a single card. PSA 2 green Cobbs are reliably trading in the $7K-$9K range now.

Next up is the red Cobb, of course, but it's going to take a little while to replenish my card budget before I can buy one I like.

Those are beautiful congrats on a great purchase! The bat off is my favorite of the T-206s - think I recall when you bought that one. But I love all 3 and like the look on his face on the bat on. Definitely cards to be proud of and enjoy.

Great images. Must bring great enjoyment looking at those. The Cobbs in that set remind me of the Ruths in the Goudey set. Once you have one, it is almost impossible to resist going for the group. The size of them, the color, the palpable sense of history— it all is just too much to resist!
