SOLD: 1883 G$1 PCGS MS64 - Type 3 Gold Dollar - Low mintage of 10,800

This date is much tougher to find than the later 1880's dated gold dollars, yet it sells for only a tiny premium over the much more common 1889. The PCGS/NGC MS64 pops for 1889 are 1091 vs. 231 for the 1883.
This coin has nice original color, a great strike, and nice even luster. The coin is in an older PCGS holder which I purchased many years ago from Northeast Numismatics.
The PCGS price guide shows $1250. The most recent auction sale was 6/22, for an NGC MS64 at Stacks for $1020. In my opinion this coin is far superior to that one,
This would make a great type coin or nice addition to a date set.
Price is $999 shipped.
It really does look better than any of these pics.
