Good luck galaxy and Count… that’s a lot of cash on the line!
My only bet today is for KC to lose. It’s a bullpen game today for them and although the starter is a good reliever I don’t know what they’re going to do after that. They did get rid of Strahm finally who had a 7+ era. If Erceg and some of the other washouts pitch they’ll get lit up.

I’ve tried to do this a couple times on only 7 or 8 games and never came close. I think this was Tuesday

i've gone to games that had cool promotions, but tonight's may be the best

Brewers blew a 4 run lead. Ouch!

It could have been a really nice night, but it was still a winning night for me, as I also got this bet in before game time.
    .

    .
I mentioned that FanDuel invited me to be part of their beta testing for a new FanDuel Rewards Club. You earn points based on your bet amount and odds.
    .

    .

    .
The earning period resets at the beginning of every month, but at the point you reach the next level, you enjoy those rewards for the rest of that month and then the entirety of the next month.

In July, I reached level 3 without breaking a sweat. It was worth several hundred dollars extra in my account, as I had a daily 30% profit boost on a $50 max bet, along with other random promos and boosts throughout the month.

I am curious as to how much more benefit level 4 could mean to my bottom line, so I've put the hammer down to start August, and after today's bets and the points updating in the morning, I should be at level 4 now for the rest of August and all of September. Just in time for NFL.
    .

    .
The next level is "invite only", and I have no idea currently what it would take to get there. Perhaps they'll reach out to me with more info and dangle the carrot.

I guess the night turned out all right.

    great night at Busch

Cards win, galaxy wins, count wins, dad happy, cool promo night, i caught a glimpse of how sexy Joe Buck is.......but it didn't stop there

i went into the Cardinals authentic shop that houses tons of memorabilia. i stumbled across a wall of game-used balls and immediately turned into a little kid. when balls are taken out of play during a Cards game, they are notated and sent there for resale. over 99% had a mundane ending -- something other than the batter getting a hit. but that didn't deter me. i was like a bloodhound, combing through hundreds of balls looking for one that resulted in a Jordan Walker hit. after much effort, i found one. along the way, i spotted another ball that came off the bat of Christian Yelich in a game played on 7/8, and he got a hit as well.

do we have a Milwaukee fan here by chance? ah yes, i believe we do. 😎

@bgr i don't know if you have a son who likes the Brewers, but if so, i think it should belong to him. if not, it's yours. i'll be back in Texas early next week and will fire it off then. shoot me your mailing addy when you get an opportunity. 🤙

Those game balls are very cool. I never knew they offered game balls like that.

The only game ball I ever got was off the bat of Pete Rose at the Vet when he was a Red. Pete of course was a switch hitter and was batting right. I was sitting around twenty rows up on the first base side. I've played a lot of baseball, and as soon as Pete hit it, foul ball, I knew it was coming my way or at least be very close. The stands were packed, I stood up but couldn't move an inch from my seat. Didn't need to, the ball fell right into my outstretched arms. I cupped that ball with two hands like a hungry dog would a dinner bone. I wasn't dropping that ball for anything.

So, I qualified for "Level 4" in the FanDuel Rewards Club. They mention that it's the "maximum" level, even though they promote a VIP "Invitation Only" level elsewhere on the app. Let's see what kind of bonuses and other offers that it gets me. Nothing too special today, but they usually bust the best offers out on Mondays.
    .

    .
I didn't see much that stood out to me, as far as odds go, for MLB today. I only placed these 2 bets, so far, and I'm not super confident even on these. We'll see...
    .

    .
I also have my CFL bet that has the sportsbook so scared they're offering me $90+ profit for me to cash out before the game! Lol
    .

    .
The odds were -230 when I placed the bet, and have now moved all of the way to -450 pregame.

instead, let's see if the LA Dodgers can win a baseball game

OK, I'm in for some change on the Dodgers.
    .

    .
And I did a quick play on the Pirates, thought about it, and then dropped a little more.

The Brewers blew a 4 run lead for me last night, so I'm not counting these as wins just yet.

I have a question for you guys who track your bets. Does your position influence your future bets? Annie Duke wrote a very interesting book "Thinking in Bets" which changed the way I approach projects and given her field of expertise I was wondering how you approached your analysis based on your results... here I guess I am focusing on the total you track vs. the quality of your bets (your opinion of them).

    OT

went to the St Louis zoo last Saturday and took this shot. maybe the best picture i've ever taken in my amateur photography life, aka busting my Android out. Kallu the polar bear was the showstopper. he swam and swam and swam. but it wasn't ordinary swimming by an animal. he looked like an olympian, pushing off with his monstrous paws and swimming on his back. it was very trippy. and for those who have never seen one, a polar bear is a grizzly on steroids. and i know this to be true because a grizzly was there too. Kallu would maul him. an absolute behemoth.

Speaking for myself I gamble at the casino, home poker games and sports betting through draft kings

Draft kings keeps track of all my bets including win loss totals for the week, month and year, I can also look back at each year and if I want my lifetime totals

Home poker games and casino runs I don't track because it's 100% expendable income and recreation, if I bring $500 or a $1000 to gamble with and lose or win it really has no bearing on my next trip although this past May I went on a mini bender and lost like $3500 in a week and put the brakes on because I was being stupid and that was way above my allowance I give myself to gamble with

Gambling is a hobby, it's fun, it's frustrating it's mind numbing and it's exciting and your either into it or not, most guys like myself and probably other guys in this thread realize it's to be taken seriously because it can take everything from you if you are not careful and if you don't understand that it's just for fun and your not going to make a living off it.

I don't get that your a gambler but I also get this thought that your trying to wrap your head around what we do lol

i guess Boston is starting a different kind of streak

third bad loss in a row when they had a decided advantage in starting pitching

  • Options
    perkdogperkdog Posts: 34,116 ✭✭✭✭✭

The losing parlay was because the Red Sox decided to go back to being a joke

Phillies made me money again and the Dodgers and a Hit Run RBI came through

    @perkdog

the Sox got me again. Philly/St Louis had one run in the 7th, so i checked that box. but Toronto/Boston was already at 7 in the bottom of the 8th. keep it there and i chop a leg off, but still make a few bucks. two outs, guy on first. Red Sox reliever hits the next guy, then gives up a hit. 8th run, bet dead.

lost 5-3 and they were up 3-1 at one point. they won 27 out of 30 and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, they can't find a way not to lose.

since steve isn't here to say it, i will. sports betting -- tough way to make a living.

Uhk sorry bro, I got jammed on the Sox the other night as well and it ruined a potential $500+ payday

Well no I needed both teams to score 2 runs each by the 5th inning for a double up and a $50 profit for the 7th inning

2 runs each by the 5th which would have triggered an auto win for 2 runs scored each by the 7th, Philly getting blanked destroyed it

Let's root for under 8 now but don't get tilted on a $60 bet brother

sorry, i didn't clarify. i basically meant you needed all the runs i ate today

Let's root for under 8 now but don't get tilted on a $60 bet brother

it's not the $ amount for me, it's the losing and how i lose

this could potentially be 3 L burgers in a row, and it's because a Philly starting pitcher with an ERA under 3 gave up 4 runs with two outs. and then his equally retarded teammate enters in the 7th, gets an out, then goes walk, walk, hit, walk to help get me to 8 runs

the best thing you can do is not keep tabs on bets like this, because you'll live and die with each pitch..........similar to golf

i just saw the outcome. that game didn't appear to be as close as the score indicates. i'm not the least bit upset about it, because again, i followed none of it. it's weird how the losing feeling differs when you rip the band-aid off immediately, as opposed to dying a slow death with every pitch (or swing in golf).

i read a stat just now that said Boston was the 10th team in MLB history to win 27 out of 30 games. it's hard for me to wrap my mind around a team accomplishing that feat, then turning right around and losing 5 straight. how does that happen exactly?

but would you like to know what's even harder for me to wrap my mind around? check this out.

since May 28, this relief pitcher has been lights out. 27 1/3 innings, 3 earned runs, a .99 ERA during that span. tonight, that same pitcher entered the game for Boston. not only did he give up more earned runs than he had during the entire span i mentioned, but he didn't even register an out.
