As I no longer attend coin shows, I rely upon the reputation of a vendor when I purchase a coin. Here, one of my most trusted vendors had this Caracalla sestertius up for auction. Once in hand, however, I thought the planchet weird and the strike suspiciously weak. The diameter averages at about 32 mm and it weigh 25.5 grams.
