I've been working for almost a decade on the Edward VII and George V Newfoundland half dollar series in mint state and am one coin short. These two sets are only four-coins apiece and I lump them together because they share a common reverse. The original mintages are only 100,000 to 200,000 for the Edward VII pieces and 200,000-375,000 for the George V pieces. Finding the coins well-circulated (VF or below) is fairly trivial and they do not cost much while finding truly mint state coins is common enough for a few issues, but a truly scarce occurrence for others.

That must be a fun set to hunt for and I bet it looks really nice all layer out together. Pretty much every coin you post is very nice so I imagine it’s quite a site.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Here is the most common Edward VII and one of the most photogenic of the group-

I need 6 Seated dollars. Of course, one is the 70-S so probably will have to be content with the other 5.

Starting out with Jefferson nickels back in the late 1980's, it wasn't until 1990 when I caught the "full steps" on the Monticello building fever. But before I had completed a set, I noticed some coins had strike problems, that many dates had some very serious issues with them being poorly struck with little detail. At that time I was really beginning to question whether I should collect another series. But then, there was Teletrade and the Ramapaugh Trading co, at that time 1990's that kept me persuing Jefferson nickels. And ANACS was the only coin grading co. grading FS Jeffs until NGC and PCGS stepped into the ring and than I found these forums 2002-3. A lot of coin shows and auctions, mail coin list, personal website persued over the next 20 years. And this past year and 1/2 several prooflike examples came my way.......I just don't believe I'll ever see that light at the end of the tunnel to complete my set.
