Is Russell Wilson the most disrespected player in the NFL?
Colin Cowherd said Russell Wilson is the most disrespected player in the NFL.
The NFL Network recently revealed a list of the 100 best players in the league and Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson ranks No. 61 on this list.
During Tuesday's episode of The Herd, Fox sports analyst Colin Cowherd called Wilson the "most disrespected" player in the league.
"You think there's 60 better players than Russell Wilson? He's never received an MVP vote... This is what Russell Wilson deals with all the time," Cowherd said.
Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler, is heading into his 11th overall NFL season and first with the Broncos. For the majority of his career, the former Seattle Seahawk has been considered a top quarterback option in the league. This year, nine quarterbacks rank ahead of him.

Wilson is a product of his own doing, out of the gate he is great but can't seem to handle the second half of the season, it is well.known that he spends a million dollars a year on fitness but he just breaks down as the season progresses
He is set up to do well in Denver so he can prove this disrespect thing wrong- if he us capable
Not after he wins the Super Bowl for my Broncos this year.
When he does that he will get all the Respect he deserves from those who reside in "Bronco Country" (anyone who does not reside in "Bronco Country" simply does not matter,........................ at all,.............................. to anyone,........................ even their mothers.)
Pardon me while I "drop the microphone"

Baker Mayfield.
Poor old Pete Carroll, stranded on his little island way out in Seattle, he's lost his volleyball.

I enjoy reading the Sports Forum and every once in a while contribute.
Most of the time my contributions are pretty bland, but sometimes I enjoy stirring things up.
Baseball bores the heck out of me, as does soccer, golf and other sports. College football does not interest me at all.
Pro football is a sport I follow (Bronco fan since I was 9 or 10 years old; and have never liked the Raiders since they dominated Denver from the 1960 through the 1976 season).
I played hoops from the mid 1960's to the early 1990s in school, college and recreationally.
Still enjoy hoops on all levels (except the politics and pop culture aspect of it); but since the NBA is like Voldemort around the Sports Forum ('it must not be named") there is not much to chime in on.
BTW, as far as GOAT QB's go, I enjoyed watching Joe Montana play for the 49rs from 1979 to 1991 (or 1992?). However I also watched Mr. Ed (Elway) lead the Broncos to 5 Superbowls in his 16 seasons (three in the 1980s where he did not have much help). He was a QB who was never out of a game until the game clock ran out. Definitely in the top 5 or 10 all time greats.
don't be afraid to jump in more often with all of us -- the water is fine. there might be a couple of guys naked in the pool, but outside of that, nothing to worry about.

You're not allowed to start anymore Colin Cowherd threads. This is your last warning.
What about Chris Simms, we still value his opinion don't we? Please don't take Chris Simms away!
..
I'll give you Simms.
You're welcome
Thank you sir, to show my appreciation, I offer you this joke:
A ham sandwich walks into a bar and orders a beer. The bartender says, "sorry, we don't serve food here."
Consistently high in QB rating and QBR, but he only won the big one once and very early, so it seems unlikely another big one is in his future unless the team around him is at the highest level. HST, I don't think he is disrespected. Winning championships is all that matters in the end.
He is the owner of possibly the most famous and worst play in the history of the SB. It would have been back to back titles.
That play haunts everyone. I have friends who are Patriots fans and they say that it even hurts them it was so bad and shocking. That is the reason he is disrespected by some. For the most part....great player. Are the Broncos even going to be any good? Didn't they stink last year?? And yes....he is far from speedy anymore. Borderline slow.
What did the evil chicken lay? Deviled eggs, he laid deviled eggs!
That was Pete Carrols fault as well
As a huge Patriots fan I can honestly say it didn't hurt even a little bit lol.
It was shocking more than anything
^^^^^ this. I am sure I have watched that play 500 time.
at least.
It was shocking. especially after the long crazy reception on the sideline that got them down there. I will never forget jumping off the couch after that pick. the highest i had jumped in quite a while!
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Pats fans who say that play hurt them? Who are these imposters? 😂😂
Pats fans know that this wasn't some lucky interception. A lot went into it. Belichick not calling a timeout and going to the goal line defense. Ernie Adams recommending that the team practice for that exact situation and throw earlier in the season. Malcolm Butler failing in practice to run that little pick and get the interception, but then the team working at it and Browner being like a coach on the field making sure Butler is ready. The whole thing is legendary.
And Wilson completely messed up. He had the wrong play called in from the sideline. He needed to get in that huddle and say "they want me to throw it. F that. I'm giving it to Beastmode and we're winning this thing." It's that simple.
I have always seen that play as pass interference at the goal line. I accept that the defender has a right to the ball but that just doesn't include flattening the receiver to get to it. All things considered, that was a stupid play call by the HC when Lynch should have been scoring a TD.
I have never really thought Wilson was disrespected, I thought he was overrated right out of the gate. Midway though his 2nd season the "anal-ysts" were making comparisons between his stats and those of Otto Graham. That's ridiculous!! Of course they were also talking about a SeaHawks dynasty after only one Super Bowl victory. Russell Wilson has always been really good but as much as anyone else he needs a solid group of "skill players" around him. The biggest change in the trajectory of his career took place when Marshawn Lynch left and too, too much of carrying the team fell upon Wilson.
...
It was not pass interference because Butler was simply making a play on the ball. He's entitled to do that just as the receiver is. If it was DPI, they would have called it there. The Patriots had rehearsed that exact scenario defended it perfectly. It was a very difficult defensive play to pull off.
Malcolm Butler was in a state of shock immediately after that play and had to almost carried off the field by two teammates.
Yes, it was a terrible call in retrospect, but I've heard the defense of the call. It can be defended. But it was still terrible. Also, there was a bunch of talk about motivation for the call. As you mention @Maywood there was talk of a Seahawks dynasty. Wilson was probably poised to become the face of the league. By having him throw that pass, if completed, he would have been MVP of the SB. If Lynch ran it in, he would most likely have been. There were whispers that this fact motivated the call coming in from the sidelines. 🤷 Either way, I still say that Wilson should have change the call in the huddle. By doing that he would have fired up the team even more, and I have no doubt that Lynch would have scored.
Hmm, biggest bonehead call in the history of the game, if I was Russell Wilson I would have told Pete Carroll to piss off and handed the ball to Lynch, he had scored earlier in the game on a similiar play, what might have been. 🤔
