2023 Topps Design

I like it - the headshot looks a little like ‘84 and the logo is prominent. Better than most recent designs IMO.

I don’t know. There’s a lot going on with this design. I’m more on the cleaner look.

Looks a little better with a black background.

Not bad but I would have preferred full photo and no white border.

Think it would have been better if the orange border went all the way around instead of just fading out.

Yep, definitely a shout out to the 1983 design as an influence.

The only other time I think they drew that kind of inspiration from a design that came out x5 or x0 years ago was the 1990 set, which is colorful like the famous 1975's from 15 years prior.

I like it. IMO, flagship should always have something of a border - edge to edge photos is for other releases. Plus, the solid border lends itself to pretty cool color parallels.

    • 1987 Topps came out on the 25th anniversary of 1962 Topps. Both have wood grained borders.
    • The photo inset is an every 20 years thing for Topps. 1963, 1983, 2003 and now 2023 Topps all have photo insets on their cards (1984 Topps as well but that was issued with a photo to ride off of 1983 Topps’ coattails).
