Michael Jordan Star company

I sent these for grading long before Beckett was in business. These came fresh from packs and are 100% authentic. I’m not crossing or sending for grading. ( I know I should for full value)
My question, what’s the value of each as is?

  • didnt these come in bags ? PSA wont grade the 86 yet from what I understand , too many issues with the fake reprints.

I didn’t know that. I only heard PSA is grading Star cards again. So just the 1985 101?

"At this point, PSA says it will only grade card’s from Star’s 1984-85 series–a set that includes not only Jordan but other NBA icons who made their card debuts that season including Charles Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon. Expanding into other issues is a possibility, however..."

So these are not in Beckett holders. Diminishes the value by how much? 10%? 20%?

Nice cards. Crack and sub to Beckett. Looking at $1200 conservatively. Could be a lot more if the All Rookie Team hits.

Not an expert by any stretch, just a guess, I would say closer to 80-90% if selling online because of the possibility of counterfeits. Perhaps "in person" an expert could decide for themselves if they were real

The problem with CSA is many of the cards were trimmed--by them or known. So, if it's in the current holder, it's going to end up close to a RAW card with no grading attached. The only issue being is if it will actually lose bidders due to the fear of being trimmed on top of that.

If you know what you want for them, it's more likely someone on the forum will take the risk and buy them based on your history here.

those cards never came from packs. they were sold in team set bags.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

pretty sure they will be assumed as counterfeits if sold in those holders. much much better off cracking and sending to beckett

They came from bags. I’m confident about authenticity and them being not trimmed. I guess I will crack some day and take my chances with Beckett. I can see the 86 Best of the New will never garner a 9 because of top to bottom centering but the others may cross at grade. Thanks for the advice my friend.

CSA was the only option way back when and their early reputation was ok. Unfortunately as time went on they went for money and not quality and their reputation went the way of PRO.
