I don't know much about the coins from the revolution period so please bare with me. This coin must be special in some way just trying to find out why exactly?

The ND may refer to the counter stamp being ND, not the coin I would imagine.
Well, just Love coins, period.
The cast was made from an 1811 dated coin, but the cataloger is saying that the cast is believed to have been made "circa 1820".

No. The fact that it's a contemporary counterfeit of the era adds some interest to the piece, but nobody would bid anything like that if not for the countermark. And not that I think anyone actually knows anything that would justify the price, but obviously two people think the piece has potential. (To be clear, I am not one of them.)

For pieces like this Stacks should post XFR alloy analysis, although less info in this case seems to have resulted in some spirited bidding.
