Not a newbie, the reason you are not getting any form of a response is that are busy looking at videos and thinking they found a pot of gold.or their hoard of cents.

The damaged coin,NO FG cents and the chat favorite not the doubled die question. That one i will gave the benefit of doubt a couple of times as the mint did it but not to the point of being valuable.

Or the forum favorite the SMS coins, I never heard about that one until it was brought every so often.

99.9 dont read or contribute except to their own posts.

I don't check in on the coin forum as much as I used to. I had to go through your other threads @Abehunter to really get a feel for what was going on...

Edited to add: hope that makes sense ...

I am just getting my feet wet in coin collecting. Trying to learn the terms and definitions and what to look for in modern coins.
I "saved" coins as a child. Keeping the wheat pennies, buffalo nickels, and the silver when I got them in change. Plus anything unusual. Then something called marriage happens and you have to cash in the silver to pay bills. Oh well..........Now 30 years and 2 wonderful children later, I still have several hundred wheaties. I will be looking at those in time for any good ones.
I have always liked the Indian Head Penny (IHP) (see I am earning). I think that is what I am going to collect. However, I think I am going to fund the collecting by searching modern coins for mint marks (W) or anything else of value and selling them. I think its a good and fun way to do this. Well, off to the bank for some coin rolls............
    Thanks,
    Bob

  • Also not a newbie, been doing this for many years. First and foremost, welcome to all newbies.
Folks like you are what's needed to help our hobby grow. There is a lot of great information
on here. As in any large group, there are some posters here who can be condescending to
those who ask/post things that are second nature to many of us. I'd tell you (for that matter,
everyone) we were ALL newbies once. I visit here on almost a daily basis. Don't post very
often since even after all these years there are many others who know much more than I
do and I'm still learning and hope to continue to do so.
