What differentiates a 67 from a 68 on this issue?

    Exceptional strike and eye appeal.

What's going on with the spotted collar?

My guess would be a beautiful 68 without the FB?
From the photo, it appears to have a broken band? Or is it just me?
Also, I am terrible at grading Mercs.
    According to my recent submission.
My Merc came back a disappointing ms 62. When I thought it was a ms 66 or 67!

    Your coin is gorgeous, dude.

About 25 years ago "Bill" of estate wholesalers was selling groups of 10 gem fb mercury dimes that he advertised on ebay for $175 for the group. I bought a group. I was disappointed in one of my early submissions to Anacs where I think one graded MS65. It seems that they can be more tolerant on marks that with magnification jump out at you.

It has been said that eye appeal in much more important than a few ticks under magnification.
