It's no secret . Dual date hubbing could happen near the end of any calendar year. --After experts confirmed the newly discovered 1943/2-S overdate Lincoln cent a recent publication suggested the only known 1943/2 over date Lincoln cent variety in existence was minted in 1942 on a steel planchet instead of copper!? . In my opinion to say a steel cent was produced in 1942 ahead of its original copper composition only produced n 1942 is like saying the rare 1943 copper cent wasn't accidentally minted on a 1942 planchet . How can one be accidentally produce but the not the other To me thats putting the wagon before the horse.

Whatt do you think?

You don't understand the die making process.

The coins were struck in 1943 from a hub or die originally dated 1942, then modified to 1943. These WERE NOT struck on steel planchets in 1942.
