Spanish coins such as this and many other foreign coins did circulate in the US before they lost their legal tender status in 1857.

Doubt anyone will beat the 1774 coin from Spain.
My Dad got a standing liberty quarter in change worth about $11 some years ago.
I got a 1909 (plain) Lincoln when I was a kid in the 1970s. In recent years, I think my oldest was a 1920 Buffalo nickel.
The Mrs. received an 1857 Flying Eagle Cent in change at the local J.C. Penny's store back in 1996.
