1799 Draped Bust Real or Fake?

I have this 1799 draped bust coin and I am hoping to learn some more information about its authenticity. Obviously the initials punched on the front are an issue as well. I don't have any information on its history and am new to the coin collecting hobby.

Real but damaged and harshly cleaned. Hard pass. :s

ah, come on. All coins need love and so does this bust.
At the right price I'd be a buyer.

A professional coin restorer such as Allen Stockton could easily smooth out those punch marks and make it far more presentable.

    welcome.

nice pics and including the edge!

heck of a coin to get started with. any backstory to share? stumbling onto a bust dollar, authentic, isn't quite as rare as a lightning strike but it is up there. be careful whom you tell that you have the coin, even damaged, someone would be willing to get their hands dirty to get a hold of it. considering the value, you would be well-served to get a SDB at a bank and you don't have to tell them what is inside. put it inside something so it doesn't get more damaged or rattle.

pick up one of these. soon.

Looks good to me. Would love to hear the back story of the coin.

Looks funny to me. Is there anything in particular that makes it appear genuine? Not my series and definitely don't know much about them.
